The Culver City Fire Marshal has informed certain Culver Crest homeowners that their properties are to be designated as being in a Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone (VHFHSZ). The Fire Marshall is working on developing a local ordinance to present to City Council for adoption next month.
Briefly, homes designated as such will:
- Need to meet state brush clearance requirements
- Need to comply with specific CA “Ignition Resistant Construction” building codes
- Require their owners to disclose the VHFHSZ status when transferring ownership.
