  1. This was sent around by email, but I thought I’d also post it here as well.

    Hi,

I first want to congratulate you all on doing such a phenomenal job with the website. It looks impressive, well organized, and easy to use. Great job!

I also want to thank you for sending the email regarding the Science Discover Lab being developed at El Rincon elementary school. Being a professional scientist, I recognize first-hand how important it is to instill a love for and understanding of science in the young mind. El Rincon is very progressive in implementing such an important curricular development at a time when school systems across the US are facing shortages of qualified teachers, particularly in science and math. I plan to make a small financial contribution to the program and urge other residents to do the same. In addition, I’d like to propose that those of us who live in the community and work in a field of science or math become actively involved in the Science Discovery lab. I am a behavioral neuroscientist at UCLA who lives in Culver Crest. When I make my financial contribution I will offer to become involved in developing or participating in curricula. I don’t know if they were planning on tapping such a rich and diverse source of expertise as exists in our community, but it would be a shame not to do so! I urge other community members, both professionals and interested lay people alike to do the same!

  2. Thanks for getting the good news out about El Rincon’s Science Discovery Lab. We have a terrific neighborhood school right here in our area. Unfortunately many Culver Crest residents don’t know about the many fine programs and opportunities that El Rincon provides. Your article went a long way in helping to get the information out.
